I’m still getting the hang of promoting posts on Substack. Unlike my blogs, I can’t schedule social media posts to correspond with my Substack posts, so I either have to remember to post something right after I schedule it (which no one can read) or remember to post something after it’s gone out to my subscribers. Therefore, people on this platform who regularly go to the homepage might’ve seen my promotion of past posts as part of my 500th post celebrations, but that’s all.
So, since the holidays have taken much of my free time away, here’s a three-part post (including prologue) on attending the Wesleyan Writer’s Conference, which is from 2009, back when the blog was new.1

Some years ago, I went to a class on how to get published. On the last day of class, the teacher (who also was a writer) gave us a brochure for the Wesleyan Writers Conference for that year. Depending on whether or not we opted to include meals or stay overnight on campus for the conference, the cost of attending ranged from $800 to over $1000.
